2009 AMBCS Team Competition
Team leaders, the 2009 AMBCS season is just around the corner and it is time for all of us to get organized so that this will be a great season. First, a list of things that you will need to get started and then a couple of changes for 2009.
1. Contact any club, shop or large family that would benefit from being part of the Team Challenge and help us get them signed up.
2. Get your team roster organized. We need names, ages and racing categories.
3. Recruit a few new riders. Check out the race results from 2008 for independent riders who could help your team. Being on a team makes the racing much more fun so you will be doing them a favor.
New ideas for 2009 1. No team fee. Trophies would be purchased by contributions from teams or interested individuals with no contribution greater than $50.
2. Trail maintenance is something that we should be teaching our young riders and the "pay-dirt" program is designed to do just that. To promote "pay-dirt" at the team level we will give an award at the end of the season for the teams that have the highest percentage of its riders participating in "pay-dirt". If your team has 10 members and 9 turn in their hours your team gets 90%. “AA” and “A” teams will be counted separately and ties will go to the team with the most riders.
3. Everyone that completes the 8 hours of trail work required for "pay-dirt" with have their name entered for a drawing for a prize at the end of the season. Their second 8 hours will earn them a second entry for the prize. A limit of 2 entries per person.
Thanks for all of your efforts in the past and good luck in 2009.

2009 ARKANSAS TEAM CUP CHALLENGE RULES
PURPOSE: The Arkansas Team Cup Challenge was adopted as a way to encourage developing mountain bike race teams and bike clubs throughout the region. Bike teams and clubs from everywhere are invited to participate.
TEAMS: Teams may be made up of any combination of racers from any of the classes and categories. Team managers must fill out a roster 24 hours before the first race a team competes in and send it to the Team Cup Challenge Coordinator. This list of racers must list the name (as it will appear at registration), sex, date of birth, age (as of 12/31/09), class and category. The roster must list all riders that are allowed to participate under a team’s banner. When registering at a race, racers should include team name. If a team member is not listed on a roster 24 hours before the end of registration of any given race on the AMBCS, his/her score will be disqualified for team points for that race. Between races, a team may add or drop riders from their roster. Any changes to a teams roster must be made 24 hours before the end of registration at any given race on the AMBCS
The AMBCS Team Cup Challenge Coordinator must be notified of roster additions.
Team Categories: There will be two team categories. The "A" category will be primarily for recreational teams and the "AA" category will be for the larger, more competitive groups.
SCORING FOR "AA" TEAMS: The top six highest placing finishes of each team will be counted at each race. (Refer to rules for point schedule for classes) These six finishes may include an unlimited number of Experts, Sport and or Beginner racers. A racer’s point score will be supplemented with bonus points. One point for every person in a racer’s class.
The Expert ( CAT 1) classes will be allowed an unlimited number of bonus points. The Sport (CAT 2) and Beginner (CAT 3) classes will be allowed bonus points up to a field of 20. Example: first place points for expert (60) plus field of 15 = 75 points to be counted as a racer’s score. The six highest scores will then be added to comprise the point total for a team. Teams are recommended to have at least six members and may have an unlimited number of racers on their rosters.
At the end of the season, to determine the Team Challenge Champion, teams will drop their 2 lowest totals if the total number of races is 10 or less. The three lowest scores will be dropped if there are 11 or more races. The total point accumulation for the remaining races will determine the winning team. SCORING FOR "A" TEAMS: Same scoring as for "AA" except that only the 5 highest racer totals will count for team points and only 1 of those can be an expert.
Year End Awards:
The winning "AA" team will receive the Arkansas Team Cup and it will maintain possession of the trophy until the finals of the next season. The trophy will be engraved with the winning team’s name for the year it wins. Each year the cup will be passed to the new winning team. 1st through 3rd teams will also receive a trophy to keep.. The winning "A" team will receive the Arkansas Recreational Team Cup and all other procedures will apply for both team categories.
